CritterSnaps ("we", "us") runs a light-hearted photo-voting site at www.crittersnaps.com. We try to collect as little about you as possible. This page explains what we do collect, why, and the choices you have.

Voting — no account needed

You don't sign in to vote. To stop the same person voting on the same pair of photos over and over in a day, we create a one-way, anonymised fingerprint by combining your IP address, your browser's user-agent string, and the current date, then storing only the scrambled result (a SHA-256 hash). We can't reverse it back into your IP, and we don't use it to identify or track you across the web — it exists purely to keep the voting fair. These records rotate as new votes come in.

Photo submissions

If you submit a photo, we store the image and any title/caption you provide so it can appear in the competition. Please only submit photos you have the right to share.

Cookies

CritterSnaps itself uses only the minimal cookies needed for the site to work. Our advertising partners (below) may set their own cookies — see their notices and the opt-outs listed there.

Advertising — Google AdSense

We show ads through Google AdSense to help cover the cost of running the site. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.

Children

CritterSnaps is a general-audience site about cute animals and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

We may update this policy from time to time; the "last updated" date above will change when we do.
